Of cellphones, ipods and dslr's

I'm using a very old Nokia e90 communicator for quite some time now, it is the latest of the communicator series of  Nokia which I'm an avid fan of, for those of you whose not familiar with how communicators look like, one word to describe them "ugly", Nokia started its communicator series with the Nokia 9110 which I eagerly purchased with my savings, then came their Nokia 9210, Which I again purchased, then the Nokia 9210i, a liitle difference in features and a lot of a difference in price, which I asked my mom to purchase for me, then the Nokia 9500 (which I asked my mom again to purchase for me), the most expensive phone(slash)communicator that I ever had, then this Nokia e90 that I'm using right now, for some reason I made sure that I'll be able to use every communicator that Nokia will produce, I was looking forward for the next "version" that they will manufacture, but after "loosing" so much money in the resale of my communicators each time a new version comes out, I hope the Nokia e90 will be the last version they'll ever produce.

I used a lot of other models and brands of cellphones in between but the communicator series seems to fit me the best, well then, why do i love the communicator series(question mark here, wish I can find time to replace this stupid keyboard)

There are a lot of things in these columns that I don't really understand because of I'm not really technically inclined, but let's just put it this way;

with my communicator I can listen to the radio or use my music player, send out text messages or make calls, browse the internet or edit my documents ALL AT THE SAME TIME!!!! that is how intelligent it is.

the weight and price of the phone sucks, but at least you'll get your money's worth.

My mom's transistor radio..................

Even before me there was it. None among us in the family knows the real of "age" our mom's transistor radio, my elder sister who's in her early 50's can't remember when she first saw the transistor radio in our home, or in "their" home before I was born in a different home hahahaha anyway, What is it  really about the transistor radio that I want to write about today?

It's been with with us for as long as I can remember, I recall switching it on stormy mornings waiting for class suspension announcements from the DECS (DepEd nowadays), I remember my mom getting so disappointed listening to the lively cheers on the radio when Marcos left for Hawaii during the 1986 Edsa revolution and when Erap left Malacanang during the 2000 uprising led by Gloria Macapagal and Fidel Ramos and I remember my Mom cuddling that radio along with her other important belongings  when we left our house during the Mt. Pinatubo eruption in 1992.

That transistor radio has been with us for so long that it became our source of information on important national events all throughout these yearssssssssss. it has been with us so long that it witnessed how our parents were able to change our lives with their patience and hard work, my mom who hails from one of the poorest municipalities of my country was raised by her farmer parents in a place and time where daily survival was more important than getting a formal education, she got married early and tried her luck in a different city, I'm sorry she "didn't tried her luck" She "made" lady luck smile on her through her persistence to succeed, Once she told me a story how she started her meat butchering business with a P0.50 capital, don't misread it, that's fifty centavos not fifty pesos, just can't find the centavo sign on my keyboard. Her fifty centavos grew up into God knows how much, non among us in the family doesn't really know how much she is worth because she doesn't have a bank account, she doesn't believe in the banking system, she keeps her money  in pails (yes you read it right "pails") old bags, between old books and other odd places.

With her fifty centavos she was able to give us a descent education (We were sent to good schools on courses of our choice), We had a good home with everything that we needed in it during our younger years and we were regarded respect for simply being our Mom's children.

Maybe now you are starting to think that I probably chose the wrong title for this post, I don't think I did because I want you to see the methaporical relationship between my Mom and her transistor radio;
1. They've been with us since we can't even remember when.
2. They haven't failed us in times that we need them, not a single time.
3. They've been our source of important advisories.
4. They have succeeded in resisting change, my Mom wouldn't swap her radio for the latest ipod or ipad and we wouldn't want any other mother except for her.
5. They both have grown old through the years that they both need special care, fresh new batteries always for the radio and more attention and love for my Mom.

I think they both deserve it in return for all the things they have done for us through the years........

Love, Lust, What's the difference?

I wanted to blog today but for some reason, topic titles are suddenly scarce, so I asked for HELP and posted a question on my facebook status "What can I write about today? In three minutes came an answer from one of the "crusaders"

"Which head really governs men?"
Hahahaha, So here it is, Bok, this one's for you.......

So let's start with the question, Can we "separate" love from lust? meaning can you be in love with someone without feeling lust for her?

Can you?
Uh???
Can you?!?!?!?

If your answer is "Yes, I can".......Say it again and listen to yourself..........
I don't think that's possible. I don't see love being separated from lust, like the two goes hand in hand together like cup and saucer or fork and spoon or Bonnie & Clyde, see the association? Yes anyone of these examples can exist without the other but the utility of the remaining part won't ever be completed without the other, the "gist" just won't be there.

So now, since from my point of view, there can never be love without lust, How can a woman tell whether a man feels "Love" (Love + Lust) or purely "Lust" for her? Here are some tips, based on research and "experience"......

1. It is love when he's always longing to be with you, WITH OR WITHOUT SEX, and he doesn't mind when you say "Sex needs to wait". Well it's not actually that he doesn't mind, he will surely try to get between your legs from time to time but at least he won't force you., that will be a good indicator.

2. It is love when he finds you beautiful when you're not (basing on the naked eye standards of "beauty")

3. It is love when he talks to you about a "future" together, well... he will surely talk about sex from time to time but at least there will be times that he gets to talk about other things like having and raising kids with you.

4. It is love when he talks about or at best/worse (depending on which perspective you wanna look at it) proposes to marry you.

Now, assuming that you started believing that he's "in love" with you and you decided that "the waiting is over" and you do sex with him, there are still indicators on whether or not he's "really" in love with you.......even after sex.

He's really in love with you when.....

1. He tells you that he loves you even after and not only during sex.

2. He still cuddles you after sex and doesn't give you the "I am so sleepy" excuse when you try to start a conversation.

3. He doesn't give you the "I got to go" excuse after sex or any other excuse just to avoid spending time with you after doing the "deed"

It's just lust when......

1. He doesn't respond to your "cheesy" messages like "I miss you, baby" except during times that he feels like doing it, he will reply by saying "I miss you more, I'm dying to be WITH you" or anything to that effect.

2. He wants to have sex with you every time that you're together.

3. He doesn't care whether you're hungry or thirsty or dying before or after having sex, what's important for him is that he can do it with you it's a "Let's do it and call it a day" thing.

4. You don't usually finish a thing that you're doing before sex whether it be watching a movie or playing badminton because he is usually in a "rush" to do it and in a "rush" to get rid of you right after.

Hahaha so you are now starting to think how your boyfriends acted the last time you did it.

Been there, Done that so you ladies better believe me.

I wanna be a billionaire..................

I wanna be a billionaire so frickin bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

OH YES EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE A BILLIONAIRE, THAT'S PRECISELY THE REASON WHY WE WORK HARD EVERYDAY, MOST OF US WANTS TO BE RICH BUT WE DON'T SHARE THE SAME REASON WHY WE WANT TO BE RICH

Unlike Bruno Mars, I won't buy "every single thing I never had"
I would rather buy my family things that they want, What would I buy for myself? my dream car, a 1957 German Volkswagen convertible , that's it. And I wouldn't want to be the cover of any magazine, I don't do well with fame, fortune is manageable, fame is risky specially if you have a billion.

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights yeahh
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I'm a billionaire

Neither would I want to see my name in shining lights, No way
A different city every night? No, I'll take my family to Vigan, Ilocos Norte and that's it for me

Yeah I would have a show like Oprah
I would be the host of, everyday Christmas
Give Travie a wish list
I'd probably pull an Angelina and Brad Pitt
Give away a few like here lady have this
And last but not least grant somebody their last wish
It's been a couple months since I've been single so
You can call me Travie Claus minus the Ho Ho
Get it, hehe, I'd probably visit where Katrina hit
And yea sure do a lot more than me did
Yeah can't forget about me stupid
Everywhere I go Imma have my own theme music

To a have a show like Oprah? Nah, I'd rather have n educational foundation named after my mother to help poor bright people get education. Oprah is pure chit-chat I wonder why she gets paid that much.
"Give away a few like here lady have this?" No way that's buying sex and I never do that.
I like the "Katrina" part, I'll do that too but it will be "Where Ondoy hit"

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights yeahh
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I'm a billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I'm a Billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh when I'm a Billionaire

I'll be playing basketball with the President
Dunking on his delegates
Then I'll compliment him on his political etiquette
Toss a couple milli in the air just for the heck of it
But keep the fives, twenties, tens, and Bens completely seperate
And yeah I'll be in a whole new tax bracket
We in recession but let me take a crack at it
I'll probably take whatever's left and just split it up
So everybody that I love can have a couple bucks
And not a single tummy around me would know what hungry was
Eating good sleeping soundly
I know we all have a similar dream
Go in your pocket pull out your wallet
And put it in the air and sing

My President doesn't play basketball, he looks so "lame" to play basketball,
I heard he loves the firing range, I love firing too
Nonetheless, I don't see myself having a Sunday afternoon firing session with the President
Why? because this is the Philippines, and you will have to spend a lot of money in paying people to "book" you a meeting with the President, Such a waste of money and time.
I'm not sure if Bruno Mars' is referring to a few millions when he said " toss a couple of milli" but I won't do that for sure, I "tossed" a considerable amount of money back then and I have learned my lessons.

I wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad
Buy all of the things I never had
Uh, I wanna be on the cover of Forbes magazine
Smiling next to Oprah and the Queen

Oh every time I close my eyes
I see my name in shining lights yeahh
A different city every night oh
I swear the world better prepare
For when I'm a billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I'm a Billionaire
Oh oooh oh oooh for when I'm a Billionaire

I wanna be a billionaire so freaking bad.

It's just a song and what's in the lyrics isn't exactly what Bruno Mars will do if he earns his first billion, anyway I just compared the things that I am gonna do with my "billion" with the things that he says he will do with his "billion", We both don't have our "billions" anyway, so no harm done.
Just for fun.

an analysis of my best friend's personality...............

When I first saw a promotion video of a Taurus 24/7 PRO, touting it as the NRA’s 2005 Golden Bullseye Handgun of the year, I knew I had to check one out. I headed down to one of our local gun dealers and lo and behold, there sat a 24/7 Pro stainless steel 9mm just waiting for me to handle. Well, you can probably guess if you’ve read other stuff on this web site, if I handle it, I usually buy it. This was no exception, and what a good choice it was.I can see why the gun was the NRA handgun of the year. It is excellent in fit and finish, durable and super comfortable to hold and shoot for almost any size adult hand. The gun grip has Taurus’s unique “Ribber” grip which is soft rubber ridges built around the pistol’s grip. It is an amazingly comfortable and secure grip.

The gun is unique in other ways also, particularly in it's ability as a striker fired, semi-auto to shoot subsequent times if the gun does not go off without working the slide. The gun has a second chance trigger system that sets to a light double action pull when the slide is worked and a bullet is chambered. Then as it is fired the gun continues to reset the trigger to a light single action pull. But in the unlikely event that the gun does not fire when the trigger is pulled, the trigger resets to a double action pull and can be pulled again without the slide being pulled back. Great for self defense just in case. HOWEVER COMPETITIVE SHOOTERS NOTE: This gun is not allowed in the stock or production divisions of IDPA or IPSC because the initial trigger pull is not double action or heavy enough to qualify the gun. The initial trigger pull is considered single action. However, for self defense or police work this is an excellent feature.
One feature that will make many concealed carry folks more comfortable is the presence of an external safety on the gun that allows another measure of safety against human error. PLEASE NOTE: The gun, just like a GLOCK, is completely safe and will not fire without the safety on unless the trigger is pulled. However, for many people (particularly people who don’t handle and fire their weapons often) that extra measure of security against a negligent discharge is very comforting. I concur and understand (even though I carry a GLOCK) the desire for added safety. The external safety on the Taurus 24/7 PRO completely locks both trigger and slide. The safety is a flip up for on and flip down for off – easily managed like a 1911’s safety. The button under the red dot below is the flip up manual safety.

Shooting the gun is sweet. I’m reviewing the 9mm here, and the recoil is naturally very manageable in this full size gun. The gun is very accurate and has Heine Straight 8 sights with the rear sight adjustable for windage. Like other Taurus guns with these sights, you are pretty much limited to the dovetail fitted Heine sights as replacements until other sight makers begin to see the light and start making some for Taurus. I actually drilled some dimples in my sights and filled them with fluorescent green paint which created two sights in one with two ways of aiming. As to your ability to conceal the gun: I carried mine for about two months under light spring and summer clothing in a Galco inside the waistband holster. The shape of the gun and it’s “Ribber” grips made the gun very comfortable to wear around all day even though it is a full size duty pistol.
Over 1000 rounds went through this gun without a hiccup. I shot Monarch, Blazer Brass (i.e. cheap), and Winchester ball and hollow points. No failures of any kind. The gun works.
BOTTOM LINE: A durable, dependable and great shooting 9mm that you can carry as a duty pistol or concealed under light clothing with the right holster. When trying to decide on a pistol but afraid of the lack of extra security on a GLOCK, the Taurus 24/7 9mm pistol may be the answer for you. All that with the “second chance” trigger system makes this a hard gun to pass up at a retail price of around $400 new.
NOTE: I base all handgun reviews on practical use, shooting off-handed from reasonable distances – no further than 25 yards and usually in the 10 – 15 yard range.
